Hempfest is this weekend, and Mighty-O will be there making donuts!  We change our recipe for hempfest and add some hemp oil to give them extra flavor.  We will be there on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm.  We hope to see you there!

Edible Plants!

Mighty-O will be vending freshly-made, hot donuts at Seattle Tilth’s annual Edible Plant Sale in Meridian Park on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3.  The Edible Plant Sale is a wonderful event: you will find a delightful variety of plants for sale, including over 50 varieties of tomatoes!  They also have free gardening workshops, live music, and kids’ activities.

Mighty-O supports the local community by donating gift certificates to local non-profit organizations for their fund-raising events. This month, you can find Mighty-O at the following events:

  • May 2: St. Catherine School Annual Auction and DinnerSt. Catherine Catholic School is a preschool through eighth grade Catholic parish school that emphasizes developing Competence, Conscience, and Compassion in its students.  Their annual auction and dinner at the Northgate Community Center raises funds to improve their programs and keep tuition low.
  • May 2: TOPS K-8 Annual Spring Auction. TOPS (The Option Program at Seward, K-8) is an innovative alternative school that highly values academics, social justice, and the arts. TOPS is part of the Seattle Public School District and is located in the Eastlake neighborhood.  They have made outstanding progress in closing the achievement gap with a program serving children across the city and across the socioeconomic spectrum.  Their auction is critical to providing their students with important needs such as a school counselor, library books, science equipment, music programs, an art teacher, drama program, computer equipment, and more.
  • May 3: Passages Northwest “Taste of Adventure” Benefit Auction and DinnerPassages Northwest is dedicated to educating and motivating girls to develop leadership and courage through the integrated exploration of the arts and the natural environment. Our programs present opportunities for healthy challenge — from rock climbing and sea kayaking to nature based art projects and improvisational activities. Through these challenges Passages Northwest promotes caring, responsive and creative leaders.  Their Benefit Auction and Dinner helps to fund their programs.
  • May 8: Powerful Schools “Under the Caribbean Sun”Powerful Schools is a nationally recognized non-profit based in Southeast Seattle that aspires to promote student success in some of the city’s academically and economically challenged public elementary schools. Powerful Schools works inside its ten partner schools every day providing resources such as skilled reading tutors, staff development teams, writing and arts curriculum and extended day programs.  Their “Under the Caribbean Sun” benefit includes a silent auction and raffle, music and dancing, and cocktails and good food.
  • May 16: Seattle Young People’s Project Annual Auction Fundraiser. The Seattle Young People’s Project is a youth-led, adult supported social justice organization that empowers youth (ages 13-18) to express themselves and to take action on the issues that affect their lives.  Their annual auction includes dinner and a dessert dash to raise funds to support their programs.
  • May 31: King County Nurses Association Scholarship Auction. The King County Nurses Association is a professional organization of registered nurses, committed to promoting healthy communities through education, advocacy, and outreach. All of the money raised at their Scholarship Auction will go directly towards scholarships for ten local nursing students.
