This blood shortage is especially serious as the Memorial Day holiday approaches when traumatic injuries often increase in number. The time between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the 100 deadliest days when fatal crashes increase dramatically. Additionally, local trauma centers are treating more gunshot wound patients which often require multiple units of blood to treat.
It takes 1,000 donations each day to meet the local needs of trauma, cancer, and surgery patients. Please help fill the high need for donors this Summer to ensure a safe and reliable blood supply for our community. Please consider giving blood at Mighty-O-Donuts on Thursday, June 15th.
